Rowan Radio was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to cover the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia from July 25th-July 28th. As the Public Affairs Director for the station, I was one of the few that was able to attend. And what an experience it was.
Having never even been close to an event of this magnitude, it was incredible. From the protests and the speeches to the infamous balloon drop, it was an experience that I will cherish for a lifetime.
I have always watched the conventions on TV, even watched the Republican Convention that took place the week prior, but being there to see it all with my own two eyes was remarkable.
During our time at the convention we sat in on caucus meetings, interviewed vocal protesters, and witnessed history be made. Despite a few moments of chaos, we did manage to collect great videos, interviews, and images.
Here is what Rowan Radio and A Community Affair captured at the DNC.

On A Community Affair, I’m joined by News Director Geneva Gerwitz and Co-Operations Manager Kelly Green on Day 1 of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. We cover the Black Caucus, disgruntled protesters, Bernie Sanders supporters, and much more in a special broadcast from Philadelphia.
Tuesday the LGBT Caucus held a meeting to discuss important issues in their community. Speakers included Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.
