BEEP BEEP RITCHIE..If you haven’t heard already, Warner Bros and New Line Cinema’s newest film is killing at the box office. Director Andy Muschietti’s reimagining of author Stephen King’s classic novel truly hits the mark. Terrifying and insanely creepy, the new film offers fans of the novel a more faithful adaptation to its’ source material. With stunning visuals and a talented cast, “IT” sets the bar for what future horror films should be. As reported by Variety.com, “IT” has done what no other horror film of the last 40+ years has been able to do. “IT” (pun intended) has become the highest grossing horror movie of all time, surpassing the previous record held by “The Exorcist” which was released back in 1973. Not only is “IT” the newest highest grossing horror movie of all time, but it now has the highest September release for a film. With a young, talented cast, including Finn Wolfhard of “Stranger Things” fame, the actors in this movie deliver a believable performance as a group of kids being terrorized by a killer clown. Speaking of clowns, Bill Skarsgård is phenomenal in the role of Pennywise. Charmingly frightening, Skarsgård’s performance of the titular character will send chills down your spine. A role once personified by the legendary Tim Curry, who wore the clown makeup and wig in the original 90s TV miniseries, Skarsgård delivers a performance worth praising. Skarsgård brings his take on the character to new heights. Much like Tim Curry’s performance that frightened a generation of children, Bill Skarsgård’s performance will surely frighten generations of children to come. It’s not just a good horror movie, but a great movie in general, “IT” exceeds expectations.
