Metallica: WorldWired Philadelphia

There’s a mystifying sensation and surge of adrenaline when you know you’re about to witness something great. When I first began to discover and listen to heavy metal as a teenager there were 3 bands that started my obsession with the genre. Black Sabbath, the founders of heavy metal, Motorhead, and Metallica. Metallica has always remained somewhere in my personal top 5 all time favorite bands. Every day on my bus ride to and from school I was listening to something from one of their first 5 (perfect) albums, Kill ‘Em All (1983), Ride the Lightning (1984), Master of Puppets (1986), …And Justice For All (1988), and Metallica/The Black Album (1991). This last Friday, May 12th, I finally saw my metal heroes live in concert.

The Booty Shakin’ Electric Factory Festival Experience

This last Saturday, 5/6/17, I attended the SOLD OUT outdoor festival at The Electric Factory in Philadelphia. A mere 6 months ago this festival wasn’t even scheduled to happen. By sheer happenstance 2 different tours were going to be in Philadelphia around the same time, Devin Townsend Project + Gojira + Opeth and Russian Circles + Eagles of Death Metal + Mastodon. Because all of the bands are friends and have mutual fan bases they decided to combine the 2 shows into 1 big festival at the Electric Factory. 6 bands, 8 hours of music, 1 stage, SOLD OUT.

This was my experience….

Find Your Space

Having a place that you feel is your own outside busy life can be extremely beneficial in more that one way. Clubs, sports, fitness classes, volunteering, being part of marches and/or other activities can be an important way to escape day to day reality.

As adults, it may seem harder or less desirable to do any of this, but here are 5 HUGE reason why being apart of SOMETHING will benefit your mind, body, and soul.
